The twit had two

Under the cosh at work (6.30am -6.30pm so no free time during daylight) but found a nice little brew in aldi. It says on the bottle" that with great beer comes great wisdom" but I do not seem to be getting any wiser. I will have to keep drinking until I have the wisdom to get a new job. The shots below are from my rather large collection of nearly sharp images.

The birdman of Prestwick Carr

After the snow I went down to the carr and it was quiet but for a few Redpoll and the rather tame Robin that we think is there for its second winter. It has the same territory as the tame bird of last year and the same  confiding nature.

The is it, isn't it gull

Seagulls, I mainly ignore them unless I am trying to add to my Big Waters or Prestwick Carr lists. A candidate for Yellow legged gull hangs around at Big Waters but the experts say its a hybrid, something to do with the mirrors on P45 or eyelash length not really sure. I got a record shot the other day what do you think it is ? AJJ pointed out a Tufted duck that had a red band stuck in its beak and around its neck, it did not seem comfortable. It would shake its head and open and close its beak a lot. Even the smallest bit of litter can cause wildlife problems.
What am I ?

Just visible the red band (200x zoom action)

Back to Big waters

Time off for good behavior and I went to Big waters, the lake was home to lots of Mallard, Teal and Wigeon. There were also lots of duck in the reeds and 5 Goldeneye and 2 Gadwall . As usual the island was a roost for 10 Cormorants. The feeding station was visited regularly by at least 2 Willow tits which gathered, then hid black sunflower seeds. When I got home feathers in the garden led me to a freshly killed Collared dove, a Sparrowhawk the prime suspect.
